Three (3) Ronald Cooper (Kentucky, 1932-2012) painted wood and metal folk art carvings titled “Scate Bordin to Hell” of a skateboard, the devil, and a man. The figural carvings, the devil, numbered “1” and the man, numbered “2”, have wooden poles attached to their bases that fit into corresponding slots on the skateboard. Skateboard labeled “Give Your Heart to God”, “A Sinner’s Last Ride”, “Hell Bound”, “Scate [sic] Boardin to Hell”, “Hell’s Fire and Brimstone Don’t Go Out”, counterclockwise around board. Titled, signed, and dated “Ronald Cooper (copyright) 92″ top of board, lower left edge on white rectangle. Board – 3 3/4″ H x 5 3/4″ W x 22 1/4″ D. Devil – 22 3/4″ H x 10 1/4″ W 7″ D. Man – 18″ H x 13″ W x 10 1/2″ D. American, late 20th century. Provenance: Property of the Arts Center of Cannon County, Tennessee. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Male carving does not fit perfectly in slot. Natural wood cracks, 2 3/4”, front and back edges of board. Some wear to wheels.
