Southern, likely Tennessee, Federal Inlaid Chest of Drawers, walnut with poplar secondary. Rectangular top with string inlaid edges over four graduated scratch beaded dovetailed drawers, each with string inlay outline having in-curved corners and the original oval brass pulls and escutcheons. String inlaid, curved skirt with slightly flared bracket feet. 40 1/2"H x 36 5/8"W x 20 1/4"D.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Allison and John Beasley, Nashville, TN. By descent in Mrs. Beasley's family, longtime residents of Middle Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with some scattered white stains and light fading to top, scattered abrasions and minor losses, some losses and replacements to string inlay (particularly at sides). Feet appear original. Some filler to gaps in boards of drawer bottoms. Some dampstaining to rear boards and feet. Repaired split to top, near back.
