East Tennessee, Blount County, 1-gallon salt-glazed stoneware pottery preserving jar marked for Grindstaff Pottery (1870 – 1890). Lower base with impressed mark reading W. GRINSTAFF and 1 denoting capacity, two incised lines below the rolled rim, and beveled foot. 8 1/8 in. H.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Marty and David Black, Rockford, TN.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Some scattered firing flaws and a couple of shallow flakes to the base edge.
