3 Satsuma Vases. 1st item: 12" Tall vase with molded top and base, lobed sides and Buddhist lion masks at each side, continuous scene around the body depicting several full length (mostly male) figures, possibly a court scene. Painted Shimazu mon and unattributed maker's mark on underside. 2nd item: 7" H baluster form vase with 6 panels of decoration (immortals, geishas or bijan, etc.) and Shimazu crests at neck and around base. Not marked. 3rd item: Miniature vase, 3"H, decorated with scenes of women in a garden. Underside is painted with Shimazu mon and illegible (partly worn) maker's mark. All Japanese, circa 1880-1920. Provenance: Private Middle Tennessee collection. Condition: 1st item: 1/4" chip to underside of foot, light to moderate wear to gilt on some areas. 2nd item: 1/2" hole drilled in base, wear to decoration around neck. 3rd item: very good condition.
