Chinese export porcelain pillow, modeled envelope style with decoration on one side of precious objects, surrounded by a famille noir border with floral decoration. Old note adhered to back with mostly illegible faded writing, indicating it was acquired in 1939. 4-7/8"H x 5-3/4"W x 2-1/4"D. Provenance: the estate of Marjorie Ann Yaple Compton, Nashville, Tennessee, who worked in the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale University in the 1950s.
