2 Bayless McCarthy & Company, Louisville, KY, stoneware advertising pottery items, including a jug and a preserving jar, both with stenciled cobalt lettering. The jug stenciled “Bayless McCarthy & Co. Louisville. Ky.” and the preserving jar stenciled “McCarthy & Bayless. Louisville. KY”. 11 1/4 in. H and 6 in. H. Both last quarter 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Marty and David Black, Rockford, TN.
CONDITION: Jug with chip and a kiln “kiss” firing flaw to the midsection. Preserving jar with vertical hairlines emanating from the rim with at least two extending to the base. Hairlines appear stable.
