Continental School oil on canvas allegorical scene depicting Joseph and Potiphar's Wife, after Carlo Cignani (1678-80). Housed in a carved gilt gesso frame with octagonal frame liner. Unsigned. Sight – 10 3/8 "H x 9"W. Framed – 18" H x 16 3/4" W. 19th century. Provenance: the estate of Mrs. Adna Godfrey Wilde, Jr. (Sara Joan Wilde), Colorado Springs, CO. Condition: Overall very good condition with slight craquelure to paint. A couple of possible inpainted or overpainted spots near Potiphar's wife's breasts and under Joseph's neck. Very minor abrasions to frame.
