Pauline Wallen (TN, 1922-2010) fall landscape watercolor depicting a barn in a hay field with tree line in the background. Signed PAULINE WALLEN lower left. This painting was awarded the Prix Taylor prize at the 1986 Grand Palais Exhibition in Paris, France. Plaque to lower edge of painting reads "GRAND PALAIS, PAYSACE D'AUTOME, PAULINE WALLEN, AWARDED PRIX TAYLOR, FOUNDATION BARON TAYLOR, PARIS, FRANCE, 1986. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight: 21 1/2" H x 29 7/8" W. Framed: 30 5/8" H x 38 1/2" W. Biography: Wallen studied art at U.T., Salem Academy, Corcoran Gallery and Stuart Art School, both in Washington D.C. Polly was a prominent Knoxville artist who exhibited competitively in galleries and museums throughout the U.S. and France. Polly held memberships in The Tennessee Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, Southeastern Art Association, and the Association of Art in Paris, France. In 1982 she was awarded the Medaille D'Argent Aquarelle at Le Grand Palais Salon Des Artistes Francais for her watercolor painting, CLASSIC REALISM.
