Four (4) Asian Works of Art, including thangka fragment and Indian watercolor paintings. 1st item: Tibetan thangka watercolor on cotton painted fragment depicting the Buddha in colors of red, green, rust, and white. Ink inscription with 16th century attribution en verso. Double matted and housed under glass in a gilt wood frame. Sight – 4 1/4" H x 3 1/8" W. Framed – 11 1/4" H x 9" W. 2nd-4th items: Indian School watercolor and gouache on paper paintings with gilt embellishments, including one (1) depicting a profile portrait of Bahadur Shah I, also known as Muhammad Muazzam and Shah Alam, the seventh Mughal emperor of India, who ruled from 1707 until his death in 1712, one (1) depicting Lakshmi or Laxmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity, flanked by two white elephants, and one (1) depicting a pair of embracing lovers. All matted and housed under glass in wooden frames. Sights range in size from 6 1/2" H x 4 1/2" W to 6 3/4" H x 10 1/4" W. Frames range in size from 16" H x 11 3/4" W to 21 1/8" H x 16 5/8" W. 19th century or earlier. Provenance: Private Nashville collection. CONDITION: All items in overall good condition. Not examined outside of frames. 1st item: Areas of craquelure. 2nd-4th items: Foxing spots, dampstaining to lovers painting mat.
