Currier and Ives large folio lithograph with hand coloring, titled "Fast Trotters on Harlem Lane, N.Y." after a drawing by John Cameron, New York, 1870. Depicts Harlem Lane Speedway in New York City with Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt racing his celebrated horse team "Myron Perry" and "Daisy Burns" past the clubhouse, along with carriages driven by other prominent men of the day. Signed "J. Cameron, del." in the plate, lower right. Title and publication information, lower left, right, and center under image. Matted and housed under glass in a gilt and black frame. Sight – 20" H x 29" W. Framed – 26 1/2" H x 34 7/8" W. Third quarter of the 19th century. Provenance: The University Club of Nashville, TN; purchased from David Thompson Antiques & Art, Middlebury VT, 1998. CONDITION: Toning, scattered minute foxing spots. Tears and creases, largest 8 3/8", to edges of sheet. 1 1/2" x 3/4" area of repair, top left of image. Not examined outside of frame.
