Carved and gilt wood plaque depicting an American Federal Eagle with open wings, grasping a laurel sprig. With later gilding primarily extant on right wing, body, and head. 14 in. H x 24 in. W x 1 1/2 in. D. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. W. Harwell Murrey, Middle Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, with loss of original gilt and areas of later gilding plus exposed gesso. Repaired split without loss to lower edge of right wing primarily visible to verso.
