Confederate Navy Revolver holster, manufactured by the Confederate Naval Yard in Richmond, Virginia in 1862. Comprised of 5 components including the body, flap, belt loop, bottom plug and closing strap all stitched and reinforced with copper rivets, brass closing button. Flap and belt loop marked/stamped "C.S. Naval Yard/Ins. 1862/Richmond, VA" within an oval. 15 1/2" L x 7 1/2" W. Provenance: Private Florida collection. Note: See page 62 of "U.S. Military Holsters and Pistol Cartridge Boxes" by Edward Scott Meadows, for example of this holster. CONDITION: Fraying/losses to seam stitching lower body. Overall general wear and scuffs. Some losses/drying to lower body end.
