Six (6) Fredrick William Harer (American, 1879-1947) etchings. Ist-3rd items – three etchings titled, "Tam O Shanter", No. 3-5 verso. Harer illustrated Robert Burns poem and exhibited an etching from his "Tam O Shanter" series in the 1912 Exhibition of American Etchings at the Art Insitute of Chicago. These etchings depict a ballroom scene with a dancing skeleton in the foreground, a man racing on horseback with death in pursuit, and a tavern scene with gentleman drinking. Two are signed in the plate and all three signed in pencil lower right margin. Etching sight and full sheet size range 4" x 6 1/4"image, 6 1/4" x 8" sheet to 4" x 5" image x 5 1/4" x 6 1/2" sheet. 4th item – Larger F. W. Harer etching titled verso, "The Emmigrants $25.00", signed in the plate lower left "Harer 1911" and in pencil "F.W. Harer". 7 1/4" x 9 1/2" image, 9 3/4" x 11 1/2" sheet size. 5th item – F. W. Harer etching depicting two men against a fence -one apparently passed out- with two pigs looking on. Signed in the plate and in pencil, "F. W. Harer". 4" x 6 1/2" image, 6 1/2" x 9 1/4" sheet size. 6th item – small etching depicting a standing older man. Signed in the plate "F. W. Harer 06" and in pencil lower right margin, "F. W. Harer". 2" x 3 3/4" image, 3 5/8" x 5 1/4" sheet size. All early 20th century. Condition: 1st – 3rd items – ballroom etching overall very good condition with old tape residue discoloration to backside sheet edges. Horseman racing death etching with old tape residue discoloration to backside edges and a couple of tape residue areas near outer margin of image backside. Some foxing on image side where tape residue was on backside. Tavern scene etching with tape residue on backside which has caused some toning on image side of etching, mostly to left side margin. All with overall toning. 4th item – overall very good condition with some toning and old tape residue discoloration on backside margin edges. Minor toning and ligh foxing to image. 5th item – toning to image and old tape residue discoloration on backside margin edges, minor foxing on margin edges of front side of etching, corners of margins have been clipped at a 45 degree angle. 6th item – toning to image and old tape residue discoloration on backside margin edges, foxing on margin edges of front side of etching and a few spots in image.
