American school, oil on board post-impressionist painting depicting a wharf with a railroad track running between a docked ship and various buildings, possibly Rockport, Massachusetts. Unsigned. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight – 9 1/2" H x 13 1/2" W. Framed – 16 5/8" H x 20 3/4" W. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: The University Club of Nashville, TN; purchased from Monty Young Antiques, 1998 (titled "Rockport Dock Scene" on receipt – copy of receipt available to winning bidder). CONDITION: Light craquelure to the canvas. Frame has some wear and chipping on front and top edges.
