Four (4) folk art painted Western theme wooden figures carved by Herbert "Andy" S. Anderson and his stepson, Bud Odell, plus book, 6 items total. 1st-2nd items: Herbert "Andy" S. Anderson (California/Illinois, 1893-1960) carved cowboy with a box of dental floss stuck in his teeth and rolling a cigarette. Incised signature "ANDY" en verso, dated "1956" to underside of left boot. Includes one (1) copy of the book HOW TO CARVE CHARACTERS IN WOOD by H.S. "Andy" Anderson, published by The University of New Mexico Press, Albuquerque, 1953. 3rd-6th items: Three (3) Bud Odell (New Mexico, 1920-2003) carvings, including one (1) Native American male, one (1) Native American female, and one (1) cowgirl with a cigar in her mouth. All items with incised signature "BUD" en verso. Includes one (1) carved wooden base for Native American couple. Carvings ranging in size from 8 3/4" H x 2 3/4" W x 13 1/2" H x 5" W. 6 pieces total including base.
PROVENANCE: Purchased by consignor's father in Santa Fe in the 1950s.
CONDITION: All carvings in overall very good condition with natural age shrinkage. Book with tears, creases to dust jacket. Pages in overall good condition with toning, pencil/ink inscriptions.
