Ezra Augustus Winter (New York/Connecticut, 1886-1949), "Harbor at Martha's Vineyard," impressionist oil on canvasboard painting depicting a harbor scene with two people walking along the dock beside several boats, the opposite shoreline visible in the background, beneath a hazy blue sky. Signed "Ezra Winter" lower left. Titled en verso with additional artist signature. Housed in a giltwood frame with bead course running pattern and an off-white linen liner. Sight: 14" H x 17 3/4" W. Framed: 20 1/4" H x 24 1/4" W. Biography: Ezra Winter was best known for his murals, which can be found in New York City at The Cunard Building and Rockefeller Center, The Library of Congress in Washington D.C., the George Rogers Clark Memorial in Vincennes, Indiana, and also at the Strauss Building, Chicago Illinois. He was born in Michigan and studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and in Europe before setting up a studio in New York. Ezra Winter was a member of the American National Academy and the National Society of Mural Painters.
