Aesthetic Movement Jardiniere, rectangular form with ebonized and incised surface, having gilt metal mountings and inset with blue and white decorative tiles attrib. Creil & Montereau, France. The front center tile depicts raised bat-winged cherubs stoking a fire, flanked by a snake and snail; side tiles have floral decoration. Removable metal liner. One floral tile stamped Montereu LM&C. 11 1/2"H x 19"W x 11"D. Circa 1870.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: Tiles in very good condition; one floral tile with small scratch, otherwise no damage. One missing rear foot, wear to other feet. Some bending and wear to gilt metal ornamentation, light wear to ebonized surface, overall good condition.
