Louis E. Jones (Tennessee, 1878-1958) oil on board titled “Golden October in the Smokies” 1944. Depicts a landscape with a river surrounded by trees with autumn foliage, fore and middle ground, Smoky Mountains against a light blue sky, background. Signed and dated L.E. Jones 1944 lower left. En verso, title, date, and signature of artist. Housed in a giltwood frame with ebonized edge. Sight – 9 5/8″ H x 11 3/8″ W. Framed – 12 3/4″ H x 14 1/2″ W. Note: Louis Jones was an impressionist painter originally from Woodstock, New York who established the Cliff Dwellers Studio in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Areas of paint loss, largest area 3/8″ L, top left and right edges. Minor scuffs and chips on corners of frame.
