Two (2) Asian bronze foo dog figures. 1st item: Chinese or Japanese parcel gilt bronze foo dog or temple dragon with teeth bared in a crouching pose, open spot on back for interior storage (lacking lid), patches of gilt decoration to face and body, 10 1/2" H x 14 1/2" W x 6"D. 2nd item: Chinese or Japanese bronze foo dog or temple dragon with bared teeth in a seated pose, 11 3/8" H x 6 1/2" W x 14" L. 30 lbs total. Both likely Qing or Meiji period, 19th century or earlier. Provenance: the estate of Christine Rehnke, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: Both items with moderate surface wear. 1st item – lacking lid. 2nd item with 2" area of missing collar at back of neck revealing hollow interior.
