Chinese Qing Civil Officer's blue silk surcoat with Golden Pheasant rank badge to the front and back, navy silk outer robe lined with a lighter blue silk, and having gilt metal buttons. Badge with central Golden Pheasant above waves with bat and shou (good luck) symbol border. A pair of gold silk brocade leggings with allover shou decoration accompanies the robe. Robe measures 42 1/2" L. Leggings measure 30 3/4" L. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: Collection of Milligan College, Tennessee. The Asian Cultural Exchange Foundation, Inc. in Washington D.C. presented these items to Milligan College in May of 1970. Condition: Some light areas of discoloration to robe around neck with some light scattered interior stains.
