18th century oil on canvas still life of a basket of fruit against a dark background. Signed lower left: L Hubner pinxt 1749, attr. Louis Leonard Hubner (U.K., 1694-1769). Early initials on back, likely from a previous owner or collection: BI or BJ. Later giltwood molded frame. 27 1/2" x 34 1/2" sight, 31 1/2" x 38 1/4" framed. Provenance: Collection of James and Marlin Phythyon (Sanders), Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Overall craquelure, 2" repair in leaf area above fruit bowl, relined with replaced stretchers.
