French Empire gilt bronze mounted console table, veneered burled wood over oak carcass, rectangular variegated gray marble top over an apron with gilt bronze egg & dart banding, over two finely cast gilt bronze female caryatid bust supports and a mirrored back panel, conforming plinth base with gilt bronze banding. Museum accession number verso. Additional indistinct numbering and script to underside of top. 32 5/8" H x 46 1/2" W x 14 1/8" D. French, 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Refinished surface and possibly some re-gilding. Replaced mirror plate and gray marble. Some indistinct areas of green verdigris to bronze surface. Light surface scratches, abrasion, rubbing, and light dents commensurate with age and use.
