President William Howard Taft (1857-1930) signed photograph. Taft was the twenty-seventh President of the United States (1909-13) and chief justice of US Supreme Court (1921-30). He was also Theodore Roosevelt's secretary of war (1904-08). Black and white photograph marked Harris & Ewing Washington D.C. Autograph reads, "For Assistant to the Attorney General, J. A. Fowler of Tennessee, on the the most earnest, effective, honest and faithful servants I have known.The White House March 3 1913. Wm H. Taft". Overall excellent condition with slight fading to the last line of script on autograph. Appears to retain the original mahogany veneer frame. Photo 6-1/2" W x 9-3/4"H, frame 9-1/2" W x 12-5/8" H. Circa 1913.
