Lot of 2 Watercolor paintings, 1 Mayna Tranor Avent. 1ST ITEM: Mayna Tranor Avent(Tennessee, 1865-1959) watercolor depicting a river landscape. Signed and dated "Mayna Treanor Avent, Nov. – 1898" lower left. Overall very good conditionwith some toning. Unframed. 10 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W. Late 19th century. Biography – Mayna was born at Tulip Grove Mansion in Nashville and studied at the Julian Academy in Paris. She taught painting in Nashville and exhibited throughout the United States (ref. Portrait Painting in Tennessee – Tennessee Historical Quarterly). Mayna Avent's work is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institute's National Portrait Gallery, The White House, and The Tennessee State Museum,Nashville. 2ND ITEM – Unframed and unsigned watercolor, depicting a coastal landscape. Condition – Overall toning, losses and tears to bottom edge. One abrasion to center of painting. 9 3/8" H x 15 1/2" W. Late 19th/Early 20thcentury.
