Carroll Cloar (American/Tennessee/Arkansas, 1913-1993) drawing, graphite on paper, study for “Watermelon Girls.” Two young girls sit before an outdoor fence, enjoying oversized slices of watermelon. Trees and bushes are partially drawn in the background. Signed “Carroll Cloar 86” lower right and titled lower left. Unframed. 34 in. W x 23 in. H. Note: the acrylic painting for which this work was a study was painted in 1986 and is in the collection of the Historic Arkansas Museum. (ref. Encyclopedia of Arkansas).
PROVENANCE: Private Memphis estate.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Pinholes at corners, small loss to upper left edge. Minor handling creases.
