Large Marian Parkhurst Sloane oil on canvas impressionist landscape, “Morning in Vermont,” depicting a homestead with figures and trees, with hills and mountains in the background. Signed lower right. Exhibition labels en verso for Grand Central Galleries, New York, containing title and artist information, undated. Wide giltwood molded frame. 28″ x 35″ sight, 43″ x 50″ framed. Biography: Marion Parkhurst Sloane Webber Waitt was a Boston based landscape painter and art critic. She studied at Boston’s Museum School and was a member of several art organizations including the Guild of Boston Artists, the Allied Artists of America, North Shore Art Association, Rockport Art Association, Grand Central Art Gallery Association, and California Fine Arts Association. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Art and Who Was Who in American Art. Condition: Painting has been relined and has some areas of edge wear, particularly to upper left edge. Some overall crazing. 3/8″ area of inpaint to center above chimney, area of buckling and cracking and 1/4″ area of inpaint to far right center edge.
