Biography (courtesy "The Art of Tennessee" Exhibit Catalog): Self trained artist Bill Sawyer began painting as a way to pass the time while serving overseas in the Army. He is known for his views of towns in which the details of buildings, streets and sidewalks are precisely rendered. Provenance: the collection of Stephen and Lisa Steiner Small, Nashville, Tennessee, purchased Lyzon Gallery, Nashville, 1965 (receipt retained). Condition: Excellent condition.
