Kentucky 4 gallon stoneware pottery jar by George W. Doane (d. 1870). Two incised lines around the shoulder and stamped "Geo. W. Doane, Louisville KY" and incised "4", denoting capacity. 14 1/2" H x 10 1/2" D. Mid 19th century. Provenance: Estate of Lynn Scholl Renau, Louisville, Kentucky. CONDITION: One minor fleabite to rim. Three hairlines, largest 5 1/4", with some scattered chipping, largest 2", to perimeter of base.
