Note on the back contains biographical information about Cirmeuse: "born in Marseilles in 1886, part of the Ecole Francaise. He was a student of [Fernand] Cormon. His works were shown at the Salon des Independents and the Salon d'Automne. He won a medal for his work in 1920. The Musee de Bandal in France also has a Cirmeuse painting titled Les Baigneuses [The Bathers]. This was a theme he worked with frequently and for which he gained renown."
