Giltwood looking glass for the American Market, featuring a figural eagle raised on an acanthus leaf and flanked by urns, surmounting a cornice tablet with swag and rosette, and a band of acanthus leaves, over a rectangular plate of glass. Two fluted side columns with acanthus leaf wraps, each having rosette blocks at top and base. 49"H x 27"W x 4"D. Likely English for the American market, early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with replaced glass and backboards. Urns possibly replaced. Center tablet with an element of swag carving missing, wear and scattered losses to gilding up to 3/4" on sides and on rosettes, scattered small losses to carved elements.
