Manner of Miyao Eisuke, Japanese Meiji patinated bronze figure of a Samurai warrior with fierce expression, wearing armor and holding a spear in a fighting pose. Signed with Japanese characters in a rectangular reserve at back of left leg. Mounted atop a hardwood stand with pierced skirt and scrolled sides. Figure: 11 3/4"H. Overall 14 7/8"H x 10 1/2"W x 5 1/2"D. 9 lbs. Japanese, late 19th to early 20th century. Provenance: the estate of Christine Rehnke, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: Some minor oxidation accumulated in crevices, overall excellent condition.
