East TN Pottery Jar and Virginia S. Bell Pottery Vase, 2 items. 1st item: East Tennessee, Hawkins or Greene County, three gallon stoneware jar with cobalt floral tree decoration, cobalt "3" denoting capacity, one ridge line and one incised line around the neck, and lug handles. 14 1/8" H. 2nd item: Valley of Virginia, Strausberg redware pottery vase stamped "S. Bell & Son" for Solomon Bell or Samuel Bell and his sons working 1870-1895. Two bands of sine wave decoration to the upper body, center of body with maker's stamp. 7 3/4" H. Late 19th century. CONDITION: 1st item: Scattered chipping to the rim, approx. 5" hairline beginning at the rim, a couple of errant white paint flecks to body. 2nd item: Repaired breaks to rim, hairlines extending down from rim approx. 4 1/2".
