W. Richards Company, London Side by Side Double Barrel Shotgun, 16 gauge. Lock plates marked "W. Richards", top of rib marked "Fine Twist". Walnut stocks with checkered wrist, forearms, and exposed double hammers, round barrels, lock plates, trigger guard, receiver, and breech with decorative engravings, horn butt plate with embossed cartouche of a stag and two deer in a forest setting, oval brass inlaid underside of butt stock. Barrel length – 30 1/4". Overall length – 46". 3rd quarter of 19th century. CONDITION: Action functions but unsafe to shoot. Stocks with storage dings and wear. Front sight bead appears to be worn down. Areas of insect damage to butt plate. Bores are dirty with no visible rifling. Left hammer broken at tip. No finish on metal.
