East Tennessee pie safe, walnut with poplar secondary wood. Rectangular gallery over two dovetailed drawers and two doors. Doors inset with two punched tins featuring a central eagle within a circle and flanked by stars in each corner. The side with two punched tins featuring a star within a circle and flanked by stars to each corner. The piece is supported by turned and spike feet. 50 1/2" H x 39 1/2" W x 19 1/2" D. Possibly Hawkins Co., Tennessee, 3rd Quarter 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Hawkins County, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with expected use wear resulting in abrasions and minor losses. Minor staining to the top. Front right foot with losses to tip. Interior and backboards with old paint.
