Middle Tennessee, possibly Wilson County, miniature chest or sideboard, walnut with poplar secondary. Rectangular top over a conforming case with one overhanging drawer over two recessed drawers, flanked by cup and ball-turned columns, terminating in double-turned tapering feet in front; rear feet are extensions of rear stiles. Recessed side and back panels. All drawers are dovetailed and feature round wood knobs and brass escutcheons. The piece is constructed with round pegs, visible from facade. 19" H x 20" W x 15 1/2" D. Circa 1840.
PROVENANCE: The collection of the late Fount and Ida Smothers, Thompson's Station, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Scattered stains, wear and full shrinkage crack to top, otherwise very good condition. Scattered pest holes visible on back.
