Southern Sheraton bowfront chest, walnut with mahogany veneers, cherry sides, poplar secondary. Slightly overhanging, shaped and reeded top, 4 graduated full-length bow front dovetailed drawers with the original oval brass pulls and diamond inlaid escutcheons, string-inlaid drawer fronts, feathered mahogany veneers surrounded by string inlay on stiles, paneled cherry sides, plain skirt with turned and reeded Sheraton feet. Found in Morgantown, WV, possibly Virginia or Kentucky. 38 1/4" H x 40 1/8" W x 23 1/4" D. 1st quarter 19th century. CONDITION: Overall very good condition with older refinish. Wear to two upper dividers to center. Small losses to veneer on lower drawer sides, small losses to right side of drawer, old loss of inlay around base of case. Expected buildup of drawer sides from wear. Scuffs to feet.
