Southern Hepplewhite cherry dressing or writing table, poplar secondary wood; rectangular top over a single dovetailed drawer with string inlaid front and two oval shell-and-trident embossed pulls, all on four square tapered legs. Pegged and nailed construction. 29 3/4" H x 35 1/4" W x 17 7/8" D. Circa 1840-1850. CONDITION: Circular saw marks to underside of table (table top does not appear to be a replacement) and round nails on interior frame; pulls are replacements. Scratching to top and some shrinkage cracks to sides.
