Acquired from a descendant of Samuel Knox Harwell (1864-1944), a founder and partner in the Nashville wholesale dry good firm Neely-Harwell and Co. By oral history, the table descended in his family, likely from the Rev. Stith Meade Harwell of Giles County (1807-1886).

CONDITION: Overall good condition, older refinish. Top with wood splice repair, old repair to left back hinge, some scattered wood shrinkage to case noted.
