Robert Spear Dunning (MA, NH, ME 1829-1905) oil on board, Still Life of Cherries, signed and dated lower right, "R. S. Dunning '91". Group of various cherries reflected on highly polished wooden table. Gilt paneled frame: 9" H x 13 7/8" W, Sight: 5 1/8" H x 9 5/8" W. Biography note: Robert Spear Dunning studied with James Roberts and at the National Academy of Design in New York. He was a founder in Massachusetts of the Fall River School, which emphasized still life paintings. Condition: Blacklighting reveals inpainting on few outlines on darker cherries, across bottom below scalloped table edge and one small area to upper left edge.
