Edmund Adler (Austrian, 1871-1957), Oil on Canvas genre scene depicting German boy reaching into a cupboard and being watched by a tabby cat. Signed "Edmund Adler" lower left. Excellent condition. Blacklighting reveals no restoration/inpainting. Giltwood frame. Sight: 17 5/8" H x 12 1/4" W, Framed: 25" H X 19 3/4" W. Note: (courtesy AskART) Adler was a versatile artist known for his talent in conveying a natural color and expression. His abilities allowed him to paint portraits, still life, rural scenes of families and children, and landscapes of the Austrian countryside, but children were among his favored subjects. He received an appointment to Professorship at the Royal Academy in Vienna which he held for a number of years before his death. Provenance: Sevierville, TN collection.
