Grouping of seven (7) assembled carved ivory items including; one (1) Japanese carved citrus fruit with an interior carving of a village fishing landscape, signed on the base with remnants of yellow polychrome paint; one (1) carved Chinese laughing Buddha mounted upon a round hardwood stand; one (1) Chinese carved crab, and four (4) carved netsukes including two Buddha forms, one horse and one depicting a man reclining on rectangular stand, three with signatures. Lot also includes two hardwood stands. Ranging in size from 1 3/8" H x 1 1/2" L to 3 1/4" H x 2 3/4" W. All 20th century. Note: This lot can only be sold to a resident of the State of Tennessee. This lot contains animal or plant material that may be restricted under federal, state, and/or local law. Bidders should check all applicable government wildlife restrictions prior to placing a bid. The buyer will be solely responsible for obtaining any necessary license or permits applicable to the sale or transport of the object.
PROVENANCE: Collection of John H. and Carol R. Evans, Farragut, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All overall good condition with expected wear with use and age. Citrus carving with some shrinkage associated cracking to base and losses to polychrome paint. Large Buddha carving is fixed to the base, no attempt has been made to remove it.
