Large American copper weathervane or flag finial in the form of a three-dimensional hollow eagle with outstretched wings, perched atop an iron sphere or ball. Mounted to a custom iron stand with rectangular base. 28"H x 41"W x 15"D overall. Late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Significant verdigris to copper eagle and rust to sphere from outdoor exposure. Repair to one or both wings. Loss to one tail feather, other smaller losses and splits to metal.
