Rare and early Tennessee coin silver sugar spoon bearing mark for Thomas Cain of Knoxville with CAIN in banner flanked by 2 Masonic emblems. Shell form bowl with coffin handle, monogrammed JRCA. Circa 1809-1813. This spoon and its mark pictured in the book Tennessee Silversmiths by Benjamin H. Caldwell, p. 46 fig. 46c and 46d. 4 7/8" L. .37 oz troy. CONDITION: Tiny repaired tear to edge of bowl, otherwise very good condition.
