Kentucky Federal vine-inlaid chest of drawers, cherry primary, poplar secondary. Comprised of an overhanging, unmolded top with string inlay, over vine inlaid stiles flanking four graduated full length dovetailed drawers with horizontal oblong string inlay, base molding with double string inlay transitioning to splayed French feet. Found in Henderson County, Kentucky. 37 3/4" H x 41 1/2" W x 20" D. Circa 1820. Provenance: Estate of Lynn Scholl Renau, Louisville, Kentucky. Acquired in the 1970s from the Halberts, owners of Rebel's Rest Antiques Lexington, KY. CONDITION: Older refinish. Two patches to left side of top along with multiple ring stains to top. Age crack to left side of top and left side of case. French feet and blocking appear to be 19th century. Break to upper portion of one front foot. Large stain to bottom board.
