Louis XV Rococo style canape or settee with a partial giltwood and black lacquered frame having carved decoration including a heavily carved shell to the central crest rail, scrolled arms with manchettes, a shell carved skirt, and cabriole legs ending in a whorl foot. The settee is covered in a floral French Aubusson tapestry and has a low seat that is typical of the period. 40 1/2" H x 58 1/2" W x 24" D. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good age-related condition. The seat has been refurbished and is stable. Some light wear and discoloration to the tapestry commensurate with age and some scattered chips and wear to the gilt and lacquered finishes.
