Marc Chagall (French/Russian 1887-1985) framed etching and aquatint, “Les Fonctionnaires Amaigris,” plate 78 from the book “Les Ames Mortes” with text by Nicolas Gogol, commissioned in 1927 by Ambrose Vollard, published 1948 by Teriade. Signed in the plate. Inscription en verso reads, “Gogol: “Ames Mortes”, Les Fonctionnaires, Amaigris- Etching, Chagall”. Matted and housed in a gilt wood frame. Plate – 10 7/8″ H x 9 1/4″ W. Sight – 11 3/8″ H x 9 5/8″ W. Framed – 19 1/8″ H x 17 1/2″ W. 20th century. CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
