Lorentz Kleiser (American, 1879-1963), oil on artist's board depicting a landscape with a flowering dogwood tree beside a pond or stream, surrounded by tall grasses. Signed with artist's monogram lower right. Molded giltwood frame. 19-1/2" x 15-1/2" sight, 21-1/2" x 17-1/2" framed. Provenance: private Nashville, Tennessee collection. Condition: Painting is in excellent condition. Frame in fair condition with some abrasions. Biography: Lorentz Kleiser was born in Elgin, Illinois and studied in Europe before returning to live in America, primarily California and New York. Although a painter, he became known primarily for his tapestries and weavings, which are in numerous American museums.
