Attributed to the Bell Pottery of Virginia, transitional pottery figure of a dog with incised fur and basket in mouth on an oval base with incised trim. 4 1/2" H x 4 1/4" D x 1 7/8" W. Third quarter of the 19th century. Provenance: Consignor purchased from Atlanta, GA dealer Deanne D. Levison in the Late 1980's. CONDITION: Chip to rear of oval base, chip to underside of one side. Old repair to side of basket handle and front of base.
