Piedmont Virginia earthenware pottery jug, ovoid form with large pulled or extruded smoothed handle having a thumbprint at the terminus, copper oxide glaze with scattered iron oxide spots, and additional copper oxide glaze drips extending out from the rim opening down the sides of the jar. Pronounced tapered, beaded foot, unglazed base. 10 1/2" H. Mid 19th century. Acquired in the Powhatan, Virginia area.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
