Pair of Meiji Black Satsuma Vases and one (1) plate with Shimazu mon mark. 1st-2nd items: Pair of Satsuma black ground vases with fine gilt-decorated landscape designs to body and cloud and lotus borders at neck and lower edge. Signed on sides. Each drilled on base. 8 1/2" H. 3rd item: Satsuma plate with gilt and polychrome decoration of two women and a young boy on a bridge in a landscape setting, all on black ground with gilt geometric border. Signature and Shimazu mon to underside. 9 1/2" diameter. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: Private Nashville collection. CONDITION: 1st and 2nd items: Drilled holes in bases, some scattered small, light surface scuffs to bodies. 3rd item: Some light wear to gilt at plate edges, a few small minor surface scuffs/abrasions to left center area near trees, some discoloration and craquelure to underside.
